According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to transform the field of ecology and environmental protection and organize the activities of an authorized state body", the Ministry of Natural Resources was renamed "Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change".

The purpose of this is to ensure the implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 25, 2023 "On the primary organizational measures to effectively establish the activities of the executive authorities of the Republic" by creating a modern environmental monitoring mechanism based on digital technologies, and to further increase environmental culture, to save of biodiversity and regulation of waste management, as well as a radical improvement of the ecological situation by planting trees, bushes and organizing green areas and introducing new procedures for their protection.
