The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Research Institute of Environment and Nature Conservation Technologies, in collaboration with the South Korean company GEOSTORY, are implementing the project "Pre-F/S for the creation of an intelligent water pollution management system and an Environmental Monitoring Center in the Chirchik River Basin".

On September 15, as part of the second stage of the project, GEOSTORY specialists visited Uzbekistan and met with the First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Obidjon Kudratov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, as well as prospective projects and initiatives planned for the future.

After the meeting, foreign experts together with scientists from the institute studied the composition of the water in the Chirchik River. The content of water samples taken from designated points was analyzed on-site using 6 indicators.

As a result of the analysis, it was found that many enterprises located in the upper reaches of the river discharge wastewater to a general treatment facility without cleaning them to the established standards. Treatment facilities designed to purify domestic water using a biological method are, in principle, not capable of purifying water of such a complex composition. Due to the relatively small amount of water in the Chirchik River, the possibilities for natural purification are reduced, and pollution increases.
