State inspectors from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change conducted another monitoring operation.
During a raid carried out in the coastal zone of the Chirchik River, which flows through the Bektemir district of Tashkent, in the protected area (dam), unauthorized sand and gravel extraction took place on the riverbank using one excavator and two "ChAKMAN" trucks. It was discovered that the mixture was being transported to a stone crushing plant located in the area.
With the involvement of specialists from the "Yashil loyiha" design institute under the Ministry of Ecology, surveying work was conducted at the site of the sand and gravel excavation. As a result, it was determined that a total of 57,833.53 cubic meters of sand and gravel mixture had been illegally extracted, causing damage to nature amounting to 34 billion 718 million 624 thousand 729 soums.
It should be noted that the requirements of Article 18 of the Law «on Nature Protection» and Article 18 of the Law «on Subsoil» of the Republic of Uzbekistan have been violated in this case.
The collected documents have been sent to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for a legal assessment of the situation, the implementation of lawful measures against those responsible, and the compensation of the damage caused to nature.
