Today, on April 25, a press conference dedicated to the international event "Shakhrisabz – the tourist capital of the Organization for Economic Cooperation" was held.
The conference was attended by the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Khusrav Noziri, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Umid Shadiyev, Khokim of Shakhrisabz, Sherzod Buriev, and representatives of local and foreign media.
The speakers who spoke at the event touched upon the importance of assigning Shakhrisabz the status of the "Tourist Capital of the Organization for Economic Cooperation". They also answered journalists' questions about projects that will be implemented in the tourism sector in the future.
"The majestic architecture of Shakhrisabz, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes make Uzbekistan an invaluable pearl of Central Asia", said ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri. - "Shakhrisabz, located in the heart of Uzbekistan, keeps treasures of history and splendor in its ancient walls. Gathering today to celebrate an important event, let's recognize that Uzbekistan has unlimited potential in the field of tourism", added the ECO Secretary General.
Historically, Shakhrisabz has been one of the main centers of the Great Silk Road for thousands of years, serving as a crossroads of trade relations, cultures, beliefs, and advanced thoughts and ideas. History testifies to the emergence and development of a number of large empires and states in this city.
"The events organized within the framework of the international conference "Shakhrisabz – the tourist capital of the Organization for Economic Cooperation", will make a significant contribution to the further expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the ECO member states, including contributing to the further development of ties in the field of tourism", said Umid Shadiyev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee.
Within the framework of the international event, in parallel with the ECO Tourism Forum and the main event, the exhibition "Shakhrisabz 2024 – ECO Tourism Capital" with the participation of leading artists from ECO member states, the Modest Fashion Show competition among young designers from ECO member countries, as well as international ethno-sports games, will be organized. In addition, it is planned to hold a Shakhrisabz culinary competition with the participation of chefs from ECO member countries and an international folklore festival.
