In February 2024, the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Samarkand region conducted environmental control measures in the cities and districts of the region. During these measures, state inspectors identified 52 cases of illegal extraction of sand, gravel, and soil mixtures.

In particular, 7 incidents were detected in Ishtikhan district, 4 in Akdarya district, 1 in Dzhamboy district, 1 in Narpai district, 1 in Kattakurgan district, 19 in Koshrabat district, 7 in Payaryk district, 1 in Samarkand district, 3 in Nurabad district, and in Urgut in the district – 1, in the Taylak district – 3, in the city of Samarkand – 4.

According to the revealed facts, an administrative protocol was drawn up for all offenders by Part 1 of Article 70 and Note 1 of Part 1 of Article 70 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The total amount of fines amounted to 330 million 480 thousand sums.
