The opening of the second International Sculpture Symposium "Tashkent-2023" took place at the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts in Tashkent.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, and the Union of Artists of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Aziz Abdukhakimov, opened the event with a welcoming speech, congratulating all participants on the 32nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of the event.

"This symposium, through sculpture art, serves to deepen the theme of ecology and environmental protection in the consciousness of our people. At the same time, creating marble sculptures for the development of the cultural environment and artistic landscape of the city of Tashkent, it is aimed at creating favorable conditions for effective creative collaboration and exchange of experience with foreign sculptors," said Aziz Abdukhakimov.

It should be noted that 11 Uzbek and 10 foreign sculptors from Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Argentina, India, Turkey, Iran, Russia, Georgia, and the Republic of Belarus are participating in the symposium.

During the event, experienced sculptors will create monumental and decorative works dedicated to urbanization, "green" development, climate change, and the consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy. In addition, master classes with the participation of foreign and domestic professional sculptors will be organized for local youth, and monuments of environmental propaganda will be installed in ecotourism facilities, recreation parks, and "green zones."

The symposium will last until September 30 of this year.

For information, the first sculpture symposium was held in 2022 in the city of Samarkand.
