In Samarkand, a training organized in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) focused on the development of the "Green City" master plan.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Ecology, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, heads of regional and Tashkent Departments of Ecology and Environmental Protection, deputy khokims of Nukus, regions of the republic, and Tashkent, as well as media representatives and bloggers.
The main goal of this training was to assist khokimiyats in developing an action plan for the "Green City" program.
During the training, various topics were discussed, including “An approach to identifying existing problems and opportunities when assessing the environmental situation of a city and developing the necessary solutions”, "Expanding the theory of urban and environmental conditions through data collection and comparative analysis using a database," and "Development of national policies and consideration of legislative context."
Also discussed were the topics "How to work with indicators and other data in developing achievable and feasible actions," "Environmental solutions, habitat restoration, the use of intelligent technologies, and learning new methods of nature conservation actions, etc.," "Proper allocation of relevant resources," "Collaboration between local authorities across different agencies and cooperation with external stakeholders throughout the process," and "Creating a broad foundation for actions and enhancing the potential for effective implementation."
It is worth noting that at the end of the training, the participants planted tree seedlings.
